Regionally award winning band Toyz — It’s a Rock Show will rock Music in the Park in Myrtle Creek on Thursday.

The Coos Bay based band formed in the early 90s. Members describe themselves as “a polished rock act who meld genres of music melded by bands who melded previous genres of music.”

Toyz is a blend of members Vinnie Cavarra on lead guitar and vocals, Kevin Mason on vocals and drums, Bob Richards on drums and Tony Esperance on bass, vocals and keyboards.

Each is a veteran performer in their own right, Cavarra spent several years as a member of “big hair” arena rock bands in California, Esperance also gained experiences in California with many years of studio production and live performances and both Richards and Mason earned their chops by playing numerous gigs in Coos Bay.

Toyz offers a blend of modern and classic rock. According to the group’s Facebook, “It’s a Rock Show’ is not just part of our name, but it is what we strive to give. We enjoy what we do, and having fun is paramount.”

In 2016, readers of the Coos Bay newspaper The World named the band Best (local) Rock Band. That same year, the band earned the Best Rock Band title from the 2016 South Coast Music Awards Show. The show also voted each member best in their own categories.

“I’ve seen (Toyz — It’s a Rock Show) perform a few times at the Mill Casino ...” said event coordinator Ted Romas. “(Their performance is) gonna be fun and loud, I’m sure!”

More information on Toyz — It’s a Rock Show can be found on Facebook.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Myrtle Creek’s Millsite Park. All concerts are free, including parking. Pets are permitted if kept under control and cleaned up after.

Several local businesses may remain open late to accommodate those attending the concerts. Food will be available for purchase from vendors.
