ROSEBURG: A Roseburg Police officer was riding a police department motorcycle Monday when he crashed into the back of a sport utility vehicle on Garden Valley Boulevard.
Officer Roger Childers, 39, of Roseburg was riding east near Mulholland Drive on the 2003 Harley Davidson when his attention was diverted away from traffic momentarily and he skidded into a 1997 Honda CRV driven by 68-year-old Albert Young of Roseburg, said Roseburg Police Chief Mark Nickel.
Childers was taken to an urgent care facility for minor injuries after the 12:15 p.m. accident, Nickel said.
Although the motorcycle was not totaled, the damage to it was described as significant. The accident is still under investigation.
