Emma 'Tiny' Elvina McGinnis
MCGINNIS, Emma "Tiny" Elvina "Age 79, a longtime resident of Camas Valley, Oregon, passed away on December 1, 2004, in Roseburg, Oregon, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Tiny was born on July 17, 1925, in Sutherlin, Oregon, to Ruth and Joseph Mode. Tiny married George McGinnis on January 12, 1941, and together they raised their family. Tiny lived in Camas Valley for 59 years where she enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her children, then grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tiny was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a brother, Bernard Mode; and a great-granddaughter, Molly McGinnis. Tiny is survived by her brother, John Mode of O'Brian, Oregon; sister, Ann Rietmann of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Les Mode of Roseburg; a sister, Joann McLean of Lookingglass, Oregon; a son, James McGinnis and wife, Linda of Camas Valley; son, David McGinnis and his wife, Nancy of Des Moines, Washington; grandchildren, Ken McGinnis and his wife, Kathy of Winston, Oregon; Donna Johnson and her husband, James of Winston; Cheri Gibson and her husband, Troy of Camas Valley; Jeremy McGinnis and his wife, Erin of Washington; Ryan McGinnis of Washington; Jennifer McGinnis of Washington; and great-grandchildren, Tiffini Wilson; Cierra and James Gibson; Kory and Kamron Bratlie; and Cameron McGinnis. Services will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at LONG AND SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL with Pastor Scott Walker officiating. Private internment at Noah Cemetery in Camas Valley will follow. Long and Shukle Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Durward Ernest Clements Sr.
CLEMENTS Sr., Durward Ernest " Was born on February 29, 1912, in Douglas, Arizona (A Leap Year) shortly after Arizona became a state. He passed away in a local hospital of age related causes, at the age of 92. He lived a long and productive life with many trades and job skills, starting with the 3 C's and WPA "during the Great Depression", saw mill work, plywood, lumber grades, lawn mower and saw shop business, and flea market sales and trades. He outlived three wives, Margaret, Opal, and Dorothy; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by one brother, Edward and his wife, Honorene Foster; one sister, Nadine Palmer; two sons, by his first marriage, Durward Ernest Clements Jr. and Terry L. Clements and his wife, Gypsy; four daughters; and one son by his second wife, Opal. Ralph Little; Mary; Edna; Cookie and husband, Harry Harington; Bobbie and her husband, Ken Harmes; Owana Flemming and Margaret Hance; numerous grand children and great-grandchildren. His friendly smile and ways, and his odd hat will be deeply missed by his friends and relatives.
Betty V. Watkins Cole
COLE, Betty V. Watkins " Age 76, of Yoncalla, Oregon, passed away on November 28, 2004. Betty was born on August 7, 1928, in Blue Eye, Arkansas, to Lonnie and Mary (Lewallen) Watkins. Betty grew up and attended school in California and had lived in Oregon since 1943. For many years Betty operated a foster care home in Roseburg, Oregon, caring for many in her special way. She was the Matriarch of her family, a good cook, an exceptional pie baker and also enjoyed RV-ing. Her family rallied around her during her illness. Betty is survived by her only daughter, Wanda (Mattes) Cole and husband, Ken Cooper of Eugene, Oregon; brother, Walter B. and Juanita Watkins of Sutherlin, Oregon; sisters, Ladena J. Wise of Yoncalla; Barbara Booher of Roseburg; Sherlane and Ronald Knapp of Roseburg; granddaughter, Angela Heslop of San Jose, California; Heather Jones of Tennessee; great-granddaughter, Regan Heslop of San Jose. Private cremation rites were held. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to Drain Assembly of God Church 975 Drain Section Rd., Drain, OR 97435. A gathering will be held for Betty at a later date. Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Cottage Grove, Oregon, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
