A recent letter to the editor regarding the statue of the goddess Hebe said that the debate this has caused is ridiculous. This is not a ridiculous debate.
This is a question of morals. If this statue is put in, it won't be long before people are forced to worship it. Don't laugh. It has been done before. The early church was greatly persecuted and many even died because they did not proclaim Caesar as their God.
The person who wrote the recent letter said that Hebe has not been worshiped for 2,000 years. Is not that the time of Christ? Did he not come into the world roughly 2,000 years ago? This is no coincidence. Our country was founded on Christian principles. Should we not continue to adhere to what God and our forefathers intended for our nation?
