Dog teams will race this weekend, but it won't be in the snow. The 28th annual Oregon Dune Mushers Mail Run is a dry land, non-competitive run for dog teams along the coast.
The two-day run spans 70 miles from North Bend to Florence. Teams will take off at 7 a.m. Saturday from the parking lot near Horsfall Beach in North Bend, arriving at the south jetty at Winchester Bay at about 4 p.m. Once there, they will parade along Salmon Harbor Drive to Keel Park. The dog teams will then be on display until 5 p.m.
They'll leave Sunday mid-morning from Reedsport, and are expected to arrive in Florence at about 2:30 p.m. From there, they will parade through Old Town Florence.
