DIXONVILLE: A Roseburg man was injured Tuesday evening after he lost control of the van he was driving and crashed into a power pole on Buckhorn Road near Dixonville.
Kevin J. Keller, 49, was headed east at a high rate of speed when he tried to pass another vehicle on a curve at about 8:35 p.m., police said. The 1987 Toyota minivan he was driving began to fishtail, went off the road and struck the power pole, said Dwes Hutson, spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The van then rolled over before coming to rest in a field.
Keller, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg for treatment of a severe head injury, Hutson said.
He was later transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland, where he is in intensive care. His condition was unavailable this morning.
