REEDSPORT: A Reedsport woman was arrested after allegedly rear-ending a van with her vehicle Tuesday and leaving the scene of the accident on Highway 101 in Reedsport.
MechelleLynn Abbott, 48, was driving a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme north near Milepost 210 when her vehicle struck another vehicle from behind around 4:30 p.m., according to an Oregon State Police report.
Abbott's vehicle reportedly struck a Chevrolet Venture van carrying five passengers, whose names police could not provide this morning.
Those in the van were reportedly transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital where they were treated and released, the report said.
Abbott's vehicle was found later on Lower Smith River Road near Milepost 6 and Abbott was arrested at her residence on the same road. She was lodged at the Reedsport Jail.
Abbott, who failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content of .20 percent, was charged with driving under the influence, assault, reckless driving, reckless endangering of people, failure to perform the duties of a driver and possession of a controlled substance.
