ROSEBURG: A California woman had to be extracted from the vehicle she was riding in after a crash on Interstate 5 Sunday morning.
Lindsay M. Sabo, 17, of Galt, Calif., was driving south in a 2004 Hyundai Sonata at Milepost 132 when she reached behind the seat for some ice cream, according to an Oregon State Police Report.
She drove onto the gravel shoulder and lost control at about 10 a.m., crossing both southbound lanes and striking the opposite guardrail. The car then ricocheted back across both lanes and struck the guardrail on the east side, coming to rest under the rail, which trapped Sabo's passenger inside.
Fire crews with Fire District No. 2 and Sutherlin Fire helped extract the passenger, Crissy A. Sabo, 24, also of Galt.
According to the report, no one was seriously injured, but both were transported to Mercy Medical Center to be checked. Lindsay Sabo was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman. Information about Crissy Sabo was unavailable.
