Elevated levels of carbon monoxide inside a Sutherlin bank prompted firefighters to evacuate the building this afternoon.
Sutherlin Fire Chief Barry Hutchings said some people had carbon monoxide poisoning from the leak, which occurred inside Umpqua Bank on Central Avenue late this morning. The fire department was notified of the leak at about 11:50 a.m.
Everyone was evacuated and is fine, Hutchings said.
A specialist was en route to investigate the heating and cooling system, and Hutchings said he expected the problem to be solved by about 2:30 p.m.
