James Jim Brockman
BROCKMAN,James Jim October 22, 2005, James Jim Brockman passed away at home after a battle with cancer. Born July 28, 1944, to Clarence and Rosalind Brockman in San Rafael, California, Jim spent his early years working at various jobs until finally settling with a sheep shearing family where he would find the love of his life, Sharon. Jim and Sharon attended Tomales High in California. Soon after graduation, Jim and Sharon were united in marriage on July 28, 1962. Jim worked side by side with is father-in-law, Ernie Ward, learning the sheep shearing trade. He worked in this field for many years in the Sacramento Valley area before migrating to Oregon with his family. After settling in 1977 on a ranch in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Jim and Sharon raised their children, Renee, Lee, and Kelly on this ranch with strong family ties and traditions. Jim traded in his shearing hand piece for construction boots. After working locally for many years, a job with an out-of- town company gave Jim and Sharon the bug to travel. They spent the next few years traveling around Oregon working. Jim lost his beloved wife of 43 years on February 15, 2005. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed his time outdoors by himself as well as with his family. He was especially excited this year because his son, Lee had secured a special hunting trip in Ashland, Oregon, for a big buck. He bagged a big one and was extremely thankful and glad to have been able to spend time with Lee. He especially liked fishing a special hole near Bandon, Oregon, where not to long ago, he caught his last ling cod. Jims last job was with Neatline Construction. Ron and Debbie, a special thanks from the family for being so good to Dad. Jim seemed to always leave a mark on the people he worked around and had a wonderful gift of gab as anyone who met him could attest too. He could talk to anyone about anything and come away a friend. Jim wasnt one to sit still for long, even with his illness. He was heading for the coast in his motor home, but his illness kept him inland just a little too long. Jim is survived by his daughter, Renee and her husband, Andy Damewood; Lee and his wife, Lisa Brockman; Kelly and her husband, Tony Walton; nine grandchildren, Devin and Walker Damewood; Kyle and ShayLee Brockman; Jake Tomerlin; Timmy, Tommy, Danny, and Thomas A. Walton. Jim also leaves behind a special friend, who was like a brother and uncle to the family, Butch Coleman. Thanks Butch for being there for Dad so many times! Happy fishing Grampy from all of us! All family and friends are invited to a potluck style life celebration on Saturday, November 5, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the ranch, 4619 Dole Road in Myrtle Creek.
