The Umpqua Community Health Center in Roseburg has received a grant to help provide breast cancer patients in rural areas with better transportation to the health services they need.
The $4,884 grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation affiliate of Oregon and Southwest Washington will allow the center to offer round-trip rides to Roseburg for medical examinations and to Cottage Grove for mammography.
The Komen rural transportation grant will help the center ensure the high costs of transportation do not discourage patients from getting proper health care.
