<b>Dixie O. Haukoos</b>
HAUKOOS, Dixie Age 61, of Winchester Bay, Oregon, passed away on February 9, 2006. Dixie lived on the Oregon coast most of her life. She graduated from Reedsport High School and later taught driver's education for 11 years there. She married Rodger Mast in 1963 and had two children. She married John Haukoos in 1984. Together they owned and operated the Oasis Restaurant and Lounge for 20 years in Winchester Bay. Dixie was a vivacious person who had an incredible work ethic and put 100% in anything she did. Her family and friends were most important to her. She enjoyed volleyball, softball, riding snowmobiles, reading, listening to heavy metal music and doing jig saw puzzles. Dixie is survived by her mother, Vera Burleson; daughter, Danni Smith and her husband, Brent of Canby, Oregon; son, Kip Mast and his wife, Julie of Eagle Creek, Oregon; sisters, Carol Harris of Houston, Texas; Debi Schaughnessy of Grants Pass, Oregon; Karin Peterson of Springfield, Oregon; brother, Ronald Burleson of Wilmington, California; and two granddaughters, Tatem and Emma. Dixie was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Wilson and step-father, Harold Burleson. A memorial service will be held on February 18, 2006, at 2 p.m., at the Reedsport High School Pacific Auditorium. A reception will be held following the services at the Presbyterian Church. Private disposition has been held. Memorial contributions may be made in Dixies name to the OHSU Esophageal Cancer Research. American Burial and Cremation of Oregon is assisting the family.
<b>William Remington Miles
MILES, William Remington Age 71, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on February 9, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at home with his family at his bedside. William was born on January 12, 1935, in Portland Oregon, to Edward and Louisa Miles. William served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He enlisted on July 29, 1952, and retired on December 31, 1972. On March 16, 1956, he married Lola Bullard. This March would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. They moved to Roseburg in 1981, where he volunteered at CASA for many years. William loved to ride his motorcycle and family was most important to him. His miniature horse ranch in Dixonville, Oregon, was his pride and joy. He loved this country and frequently called Oregon "God's Country". He enjoyed the green hills, the mountains and the trees. William is survived by his wife, Lola Miles of Roseburg; his son, Patrick Miles of Goodyear, Arizona; daughters, Julie Rowan and Mari-jo Miles, both of Roseburg; eight brothers and sisters; and four grandchildren. William did not wish to have a funeral, so a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 2400 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, Oregon, 97470, in his name, (Hospice is what allowed his family to keep him at home during his illness) or to the Community Cancer Center, 545 W. BRADY, Angalee Elizabeth Age 51, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, passed away at a local hospital early on Monday, February 13, 2006. She was the daughter of Delano and Dorothy Casten of Glendale, Oregon. She was born on October 8, 1954, in Roseburg, Oregon, and lived most life in the Myrtle Creek area. Angalee was a graduate of Glendale High School and went to Umpqua Community College for nearly two years. She was a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star in Canyonville, Oregon. She loved flowers and gardening. Surviving are one son, Tyler James Woodral of Salem, Oregon; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Walczak of Myrtle Creek; two brothers, Patrick James and Shelly Brady of Marysville, Washington; Larry Wayne and his wife, Marsha Brady of Springfield, Oregon; one sister, Stephanie and her husband, Bryan Mortensen of South Seattle, Washington; and one granddaughter, Riley Woodral of Salem. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1040 Lillian Street in Myrtle Creek, with a private burial to follow at the Glendale Cemetery. MOUNTAIN VIEW MEMORIAL CHAPEL in Myrtle Creek is assisting the family.
