Weekend's Best Bets



* CAMfest. A concert to remember Cameron Sharp will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Myrtle Creek Elks Lodge, 106 S. Main St. Local musicians performing include B.O.K., Tangled Web, Path of a Dream, Brett Pires and Sharp's former band, Upon the Earth.

Donations from the free concert will go to the Cameron Sharp Memorial Foundation. Sharp, 18, died Jan. 30 after being struck by a snow removal machine at a resort outside Bend. 863-3693.



* THE COATS. The Roseburg Community Concert Association presents men's vocal group The Coats at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Umpqua Community College's Jacoby Auditorium. The Coats started at the University of Washington, and became regulars at Seattle's Pike Place Market, wearing trench coats because they performed outdoors. The four men sing 1950s doo-wop to jazz, to country ballads and rap. They sing original songs, as well, some with accompaniment. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children. 672-2407.



* BENEFIT CAR SHOW. A variety of classic automobiles will be showcased at the 29th annual Roseburg Benefit Car Show from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Presented by the Umpqua Flatheads and the Stray Angels car clubs, it will feature competitions for People's Choice, Kids' Choice, Best Individual Display and Best Club Display.

Admission is $5 for adults, 10 and younger get in free. Proceeds will benefit the Douglas County Special Equipment Fund and Camp Millennium, which serves kids who've faced cancer in their lives. 672-2359, 679-8214, 672-7235.



* MR. GREEN. The Umpqua Actors Community Theatre presents a reading of "Visiting Mr. Green" at 7:30 p.m. today at Betty Long Unruh Theatre, 1614 W. Harvard Ave. in Roseburg. The two-act play by Jeff Baron tells the story of two men thrown together after a minor traffic accident. Ross is charged with reckless driving after he hits Mr. Green, who wandered into traffic. Ross is required to visit Mr. Green for six months for community service. Admission is free; seating is limited to 100. 673-2125.



* SOUTH PACIFIC. The Roseburg High School Performing Arts Department presents Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical "South Pacific." The show runs at 7 p.m. Saturday and again March 16, 17 and 18 at Roseburg High School's Rose Theatre, 400 W. Harvard Ave.

Passions rise as two Americans explore forbidden love interests on a tiny island in the South Pacific during World War II. Songs include "Some Enchanted Evening," "Younger Than Springtime" and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair." Stars include Brandy Houck, Niko Karpontinis, Matteo Pelle and Erica Linden.

Tickets are $6 and are on sale at New Day Grocery, While Away Books, Hanson's Jewelers and the theater box office.



* LOVE FOIBLES. The University of Oregon Opera Ensemble and Orchestra will perform Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Umpqua Community College's Jacoby Auditorium.

Charles Turley, assistant professor of voice and director of opera for the University of Oregon, brings his experience to this production of Mozart's witty and satirical opera. The "Marriage of Figaro" exposes the foibles of lovers and the presumptions of class with the twists and turns of high farce.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for students. They are available at Hanson Jewelers, While Away Books, Harvard Avenue Drugs & Gifts, Umpqua Valley Arts Association, Sutherlin Drug and the UCC Bookstore. The opera is presented by the Umpqua Symphony Association. 440-9680, 672-6003.



* GREATEST OF THE GRAPE. Local vineyards highlighted at the annual event from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Seven Feathers Hotel & Casino Resort, Canyonville. Featured will be Oregon wine and food pairing, artists, music and a silent auction. Tickets cost $75 each and are available at the door. The Greatest of the Grape is sponsored by the Umpqua Valley Winegrowers Association.
