WINSTON: Regular fries or curly fries? If youre a semitruck driver on a long haul, you might want to stick with the standard spuds.
A Texas man learned that lesson Tuesday, when he reportedly choked on a curly fry and blacked out while driving on Interstate 5 near Milepost 114, according to an Oregon State Police report.
Robert L. Haley, 56, of Arthur City, was driving a 2000 Volvo semi south around 1:25 p.m., when the truck began to veer off the road. The truck entered a ditch, traveled up an embankment and came to a rest with minor damage.
After coming to, Haley told police the bouncing of the truck as it left the roadway must have dislodged the curly fry from his throat.
Haley declined medical treatment and was reportedly not injured.
