As part of The News-Reviews recent redesign and our desire to continually improve content, weve added two new comic strips to our Comics page starting today on page 16.
FoxTrot by Bill Amend is a comic strip with attitude, wit and a big dose of reality. Amends understanding of sibling rivalry and generational struggles comes to life in a refreshing blend of humor and truth as he tells the comic adventures of the Fox family. FoxTrot has been running in newspapers since 1988.
Pickles by Brian Crane tells the story of Earl and Opal Pickles as they enjoy their golden years surrounded by friends and family. Pickles was named the best comic strip of 2001 by the National Cartoonists Society.
Both strips are being run as tests for the next several weeks, and wed like to know what you think.
Readers asked us to make our Daily Crossword larger, so weve moved into the Classified section where we have room to expand it. Its on page 20 today, along with our Sudoku strip.
Were considering making future changes and possible additions or subtractions from the Comics page.
A recent survey of The News-Review readers advisory board asked them to tell us which were their favorite strips in the newspaper. For Better Or Worse and Dilbert were the top choices, while bringing up the rear was Rose Is Rose. Were using this input and other information to help decide on future content.
If you have input youd like to share about our new strips or other comics, please e-mail Features Editor Nik Dirga at ndirga@newsreview.info. No phone calls, please.
