WINCHESTER BAY: A Hillsboro man was in good condition this morning at a Portland hospital after crashing the ATV he was riding in Winchester Bay Sunday.
Jeffrey M. Matthews, 31, was riding a 2000 Yamaha Blaster on the dunes near the 2000 block of Salmon Harbor Drive when he went over a razorback and struck his left hand on the vehicle's handlebar, according to Sgt. Dave Marshall of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Matthews, who was wearing a helmet, reportedly broke his arm.
He was taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport and then later to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland.
