REEDSPORT -- An anonymous tip led to the arrest of two suspected elk poachers in Reedsport, according to the Oregon State Police.
OSP received the call on the Turn In Poacher hotline Saturday about people who'd killed an elk Friday and were dressing it at a home on Scholfield Road, according to an OSP press release.
Fish and Wildlife troopers from the Coos Bay office investigated the complaint and so far have arrested two men on suspicion of taking a bull elk during closed season at night. Eric J. Manicke, 29, and Patrick Sullivan, 36, both of Reedsport, were lodged in the Reedsport jail.
The elk was reportedly killed in the Elliott State Forest in Douglas County. OSP is asking anyone else with information related to this case to call (541) 888-2677 Ext. 233. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
