WINCHESTER BAY: A Bend man was critically injured Tuesday while riding an all-terrain vehicle on the sand dunes.
John S. Hicky, 44, reached the top of a hill on the 2006 Yamaha Raptor and became airborne around 7:10 p.m., according to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office report.
Hicky reportedly suffered serious back injuries when he landed, and was taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport.
He was later transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, where he was listed in critical condition this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.
