CAMAS VALLEY -- Missed opportunities were the name of the game Friday for Camas Valley, as the Hornets had two touchdowns called back in two overtimes in a Skyline League football loss to Butte Falls.
"We had several missed opportunities," Camas Valley coach Eli Wolfe said. "All we needed was nine feet to win the game in overtime, but came up a foot short. It was just one of those games where you hate to see a loser, but someone had to lose."
Cody Kievit had a solid game at quarterback for Camas Valley, completing 12 of 25 for 293 yards and four touchdowns. He also made 15 tackles on defense. Kameron Wolfe made eight receptions for 208 yards and four scores. He and Eli Fisher led the defense with 18 tackles each. Dennis Wolfe and Kurt Dever each ran for over 100 yards.
For Butte Falls, Mike McLaughlin ran for four touchdowns and Joey Knighton added three more, accounting for all of the Loggers' points. Knighton's third touchdown, a 1-yard run, was the game winner.
"Offensively, we played very well," coach Wolfe said. "We just ran out of gas at the end. Only 10 guys played, so they were very tired in overtime. We outgained them by 234 yards, but made too many mistakes."
Camas Valley (3-2, 2-1 league) travels to Days Creek next Friday for a Skyline League game.

SUTHERLIN -- Senior quarterback Dane Gilman threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as the Bulldogs handed the ninth-ranked Cougars of Cave Junction a non-league loss Friday.
Gilman completed 6-of-9 passes for 160 yards rushed five times for 24 yards. One of his scoring strikes was a 78-yarder to Davey Farinash.
"Gilman was great, as always," Sutherlin coach Josh Gary said.
Gabe Andersen-Marquez opened the scoring for Sutherlin with a 27-yard burst. A 5-yard run by Gilman and a 12-yard pass from Gilman to Farinash put the Bulldogs up 21-0 at halftime.
Farinash led all receivers with three receptions for 110 yards and two scores and Caleb Trowbridge had two receptions for 39 yards and one TD. Andersen-Marquez finished with 79 yards on 10 carries and Lee Becker added 73 yards on 11 carries. Sutherlin's Chris Frazier recovered two fumbles on defense.
Illinois Valley's Larry Ragsdale ran 14 times for 153 yards and a touchdown and Adam Miller ran 19 times for 92 yards and one score.
"Overall, our team defense was good," Gary said. "Their double-wing formation really slowed the pace, but we were up early and were playing pretty conservative, so it didn't make that big of a difference."
