Winston man's arrest linked to Internet chat

A Winston man has been arrested in connection to sex-related crimes involving a 15-year-old male he met on an Internet chat site, according to the Oregon State Police.

Richard Steele, 38, is accused of third-degree sexual abuse and compelling prostitution and was arrested about a month ago, according to an OSP media release.

The arrest followed a seven-month investigation into Steele and three other Southern Oregon men who had allegedly met with the teenager in Jackson County following online chats.

Officials did not specify which Internet site was used.

Two others were arrested at the same time as Steele, while a fourth suspect was arrested Thursday, according to OSP.

Mathew Prinslow, 23, of Rogue River is accused of 10 counts of third-degree sodomy. Trenton Ray, 23, of Grants Pass was arrested on suspicion of 10 counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

The man arrested Thursday, Craig William Hunt, 56, of Bandon, is accused of four counts of third-degree sodomy and one count of third-degree rape.

Detectives believe other alleged victims may exist. Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to call Detective Blain Allen at (541) 776-6236 ext. 229.
