I WANT TO KNOW: Handicapped parking?

J.F. of Roseburg asks:

With Diamond Parking Service taking over enforcement of parking, will people with handicap permits still be able to park without being charged in non-handicap spots if the handicap spots are full?

Answer:

State law supersedes city ordinances when it comes to handicapped parking. According to Roseburg secretary Debi Davidson, the old practice of not charging fees or time limits for cars with handicapped parking permits will continue. “As long as they are parked correctly within a space, they have no time limit,” she said.
