GLIDE: A Roseburg family spent Friday night in the snowy woods stuck in a truck without gas up Little River Road.
Russ Robinson, 39, his wife and their two children left for a four-wheel drive trip around 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Douglas County Sheriffs Office.
Robinson reportedly called his aunt in Susan Creek on his cell phone the next morning to report the family was stuck in the snow and that he planned to walk out.
The sheriffs office and search and rescue were notified around 10:30 a.m. Saturday. A couple hours later, Robinson called again and was able to relay his location.
Members of the search and rescue volunteer four-wheel drive club found the man at Emile Shelter near where the familys 1995 Chevrolet Yukon had ran out of gas in the snow, according to the sheriffs office.
The truck was refueled and the family drove out on their own. Robinsons family, including wife Darci Robinson, 36, and children Rhyker, 3, and Demyah, 2, suffered no ill effects of their night out.
