Oregon State Police have identified the victim of Tuesday nights fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 138 East as Roseburg resident Mark William Doty.
Doty was riding a 2007 BMW motorcycle east on the highway when he fell from the bike near Buckhorn Road shortly before 11 p.m., according to the Oregon State Police.
He struck the guardrail and then tumbled down an embankment as his motorcycle continued to travel upright along the highway.
Emergency crews attempted to save Doty, but he died at the scene. It was not immediately clear why Doty fell off the bike.
Doty was the operations superintendent for Douglas Electric Cooperative.
The crash is under investigation.
