WINSTON A sewage spill near Highway 42 at Lookingglass Creek has caused the city of Winston to ban swimming in the creek from the bridge to its confluence with the South Umpqua River.
The city of Winston posted the swimming closure at 2 p.m. Monday. The advisory will remain in effect through noon Wednesday unless the city extends the warning.
The water supply for the Winston-Dillard Water District is not affected. The water is safe to drink, according to the citys press release.
No other information was available on the size of the spill or its cause.
