In the past five weeks, Susan Morgan has collected $13,840 in contributions and in-kind donations for her county Board of Commissioners campaign, putting her far ahead of her opponent in the money race.
Morgan, seeking to unseat first-term Commissioner Marilyn Kittelman, has reported a $3,000 donation from Murphy Hardwood from Eugene and $2,500 from the campaign fund of former Republican Rep. Wayne Scott of Canby. She also received $2,000 from Roseburg timber executive Richard Sohn.
Kittelman has collected $5,125 in donations for the year. She received $500 apiece from Robert Grove and Fred Whitford, both of Yoncalla, Richard Conn of Flournoy Valley, Dan Lufkin of New York City, Donna Woolley of Drain and Olive Branch Equities and Gene Johnson, her father, both of Roseburg.

On the debit side, challenger Morgan has reported expenses of $13,876 since Sept. 30. She paid $7,000 to Salem-based Adams & Co. for consulting services and $4,357 to reimburse herself for personal expenses.
Morgan is able to use money left in her state representative campaign fund for the commissioner race. She began the calendar year with $28,830. She has reported $14,000 in contributions and in-kind payments for the year, along with $28,488 in expenses for both her state representative position and the commissioners race.
Currently, she has an ending cash balance of $14,342, according to an online accounting provided by the Oregon Secretary of States Office.
Kittelman began the year with $558 in her campaign account. She has reported $5,165 in expenses, including $2,750 for a contract for advertising preparation with David Jaques, her campaign manager and personal adviser. She had paid Jaques $850 so far on the account receivable debt.
She has also paid $1,429 to Umpqua Printing of Roseburg, $595 to the Douglas County Fairgrounds, $410 to Towers Marketing of Eugene and $400 to Signs & More in Roseburg, according to the Secretary of States records.
Patrick Starnes of Lookingglass, who is exploring a run for commissioner but hasnt officially filed, has raised $1,569 and spent $1,280. All of his contributions have been $100 or less, so individual contributors dont have to be identified.
In the other county commissioner race, Commissioner Doug Robertson has raised $27,970. His opponent, Roseburg real estate broker Rich Raynor, has collected $3,550.
Robertson received $2,500 from Milton Herbert of Roseburg and $1,000 apiece from Lone Rock Timber, Ronica Bruce, J. Thompson, Murray & Atchley LLC, Marks-Murray LLC, Randall/Pacific Group, Dave Leonard, Paul Utz, Andrew Kahn and James Ratzlaff, all from Roseburg.
Raynor received $600 from John Raynor of Wasilla, Alaska, $500 from Roger Snyder and $250 from Stratton Bros., both from Roseburg. He also contributed $500 of his own money.
