Free Texas Hold ’Em poker coming to Roseburg

Organized Texas Hold ‘Em poker is coming to Roseburg, but don’t expect to count your money while you’re sitting at the table.

This poker is free.

On Jan. 6, 2008, the Riverdogs Poker League Tournament will deal its first-ever Roseburg game at the Jersey Lilly.

Regular games will also take place at Joe’s Sugar Pine Inn and Nilknarf’s Bar and Grill.

Based in Medford, Riverdogs Entertainment Company Inc. offers poker enthusiasts the chance to play tournament-style, no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em poker without a buy-in.

Tournament winners receive points, prizes and the chance to qualify for a seat in The World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour .

The league, which began in August and approved by the Medford Police, has grown in venues and popularity. It has since gained approval from the Oregon Lottery Commission and the Roseburg Police Department. The Riverdogs Poker League does not fall under the category of gaming since the tournaments are free to enter and offer no-cash-value prizes.

Tournaments will be set up from 3 to 6 p.m. Sundays at the Jersey Lilly, 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays at Joe’s Sugar Pine Inn, and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Nilknarf’s Bar and Grill.
