Age 80, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007. She was born September 5, 1927, in Dolestown, Grant County, Arkansas, the daughter of Rile and Tinnie (Smith) Webb. She was raised and educated in Arkansas and as a young lady, worked at a munitions plant in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to serve her country during World War II. She was united in marriage to Ben Stewart on January 19, 1945, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The couple moved to California, where they lived until moving to Oregon in the 1970s. They have lived in Sutherlin for seven years. Hazel enjoyed craftwork and making a house into a home. She attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Ben of Sutherlin. She also leaves children, Harold Stewart of Vacaville, California; Sandra Goetze of Napa, California; Larry Stewart of Columbus, Georgia; Donna Bridges of Riverbank, California and Michael Stewart of Escalon, California. She has six brothers and sisters, Roy, Eugene and Marvin Webb; Jean Reed and Elsie Wallinford, all of Sheridan, Arkansas, and Beulah Boots Phillips of Sutherlin. Hazel and Ben have 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2007, at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Oakland, Oregon. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Williams of the Sutherlin Seventh-day Adventist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Taylors Family Chapel.
