Roseburg railroad offers to keep Siskiyou line open, but at a price

The Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad announced plans Thursday to keep its Siskiyou line open between Medford and Weed, Calif., and to spend nearly $5 million on improvements to the line.Bob Jones, CORP's president, said in a written release that his company proposes to enter into new contracts with shippers and continue hauling wood products between Southern Oregon and Northern California."We are confident that the terms CORP proposed to our shippers will provide them a freight rail solution that costs them less than competitive alternatives and that allows CORP to continue ongoing operations on the Siskiyou segment," Jones said in …
