FINN ROCK Junior Kyle Arter pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts against McKenzie to help Yoncalla to a 5-2 win in the opening game of a non-league doubleheader on Friday.
Yoncalla pitcher Heath Anson recorded a one-hit shutout and fanned eight as the Eagles won the nightcap, 4-0.
Arter, who went the distance, walked none and didnt allow an earned run. The Eagles made nine errors in the contest.
Curtis Jones stroked a two-run triple for Yoncalla, which trailed 3-2 in the fourth inning but scored three runs in the fifth.
Anson, who walked none, owned a perfect game entering the fourth inning, but gave up a single to lead off the fifth.
Colton Kingery and Arter both went 2-for-3 with doubles. Kyle Lowe finished 2-for-2.
The Eagles (3-1) resume play April 2, when they travel to Reedsport for a 4:30 p.m. non-league game.

REDDING, Calif. Jeff Jackson and Kyle Fields combined on a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts as the Wildcats opened their Spring Break trip with a win over University Prep.
Josh Huskey had a double and two RBIs, Brandon Belloir knocked in three runs and scored two times, and Jackson had two RBIs for Glide (1-1).
I was pretty pleased after being in the gym two weeks, said Glide coach Al Skinner.
The Wildcats will face LeGrand, Calif., in a doubleheader next Thursday, beginning at noon.

REEDSPORT Travis Leach belted a solo home run in the second inning, but the Braves were unable to keep up with Gold Beach in Sunset League game.
Leach, who sent a ball flying into the parking lot on an 0-and-2 count, notched Reedsports only run of the game until the fifth inning, when the Braves staged a comeback to cut Gold Beachs lead to 6-4.
Sophomore Gunnar Kaufmann ripped a two-run double and added a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
I thought it was good that we came back in the fifth inning and got a few hits and made something happen, Reedsport coach Todd Harrington said. We had four injuries in the game and we played through it.
Harrington said his teams seven errors proved costly.
Junior Taylor Palermo, who took the loss, gave up all eight runs on eight hits (three earned), struck out four and didnt allow a walk.
Reedsport (1-2, 0-2 Sunset) may be without leadoff hitter Cory Christoffersens services for a few games after he collided with a center fielder during the contest and injured a leg.

JOHN DAY Host Grant Union used a pair of five-run innings do down Umpqua Valley Christian at the Les Schwab Spring Break Invitational.
Prospector Cody Williams had a big day, going 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and four runs scored.
UVCs Gabe Forrester and Austin Stone combined for six strikeouts, but the Monarchs had trouble containing Grant Union, which scored five runs in both the second and fifth innings.
Ryan Graf recorded a double and RBI, Gabe Forrester went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Austin Stone 2-for-4 with an RBI for UVC. Daniel Schultz took the loss.

SALEM Nothings coming easy for Roseburg in the early stages of the 2008 high school softball season.
The Indians and West Salem played to a tie in a non-league game that was called after nine innings due to rain and darkness. Roseburg is 0-1-1 on the season.
Roseburg scored its only run in the sixth inning when Kendra George singled in Nikki Bassett, who had led off with a base-hit. West Salem scored in the seventh.
Roseburg had runners on second and third with two outs in the top of the ninth, but Jazmine Crowe was thrown out on a grounder up the middle on a disputed call at first.
Bassett went 2-for-4 in the contest. Roseburg senior right-hander Mikayla Endicott allowed five hits, striking out 14 and walking three. Juliette Wilson had 12 strikeouts for West Salem.
Roseburg has managed only one run in 17 innings of play this season.
Im a little disappointed, said Roseburg coach Tony Campos. Were playing good teams, but were better hitters than that. We need to step up to the plate and start getting more competitive. Were letting too many good pitches go by.
The Indians will play in the North Medford Tournament Monday and Tuesday, facing Sprague of Salem and Putnam of Milwaukie on Monday.

Gold Beach, which earned first with a team score of 338, was led by medalist Hugo Treinen, who shot 81 over 18 holes.
S.U.s Jacob Grady recorded a 95. Sutherlin, which placed fourth, was led by Mitch McLains score of 96. Glides Braden Smith also registered a 96.
The Lancers, who play at the Bandon Crossing on March 27, knocked 20 strokes off their team score.

EUGENE The Roseburg girls lacrosse squad roared out to a 9-0 lead over Thurston by halftime en route to a victory Wednesday.
Senior Savannah McClendon scored a game-high four goals for the Indians. Chelsea Heberling added two; Tawnya Hamlin, Sarah Belloir, Shelby Thompson, Katie Wafer, Susanna DeBell and Heather Everhart each scored one.
We played good smothering defense and passed the ball fairly well, Roseburg co-coach Randy Snelling said. We were able to get all the girls in.
Playing goalkeeper in the first half, Wafer made three saves. Anna Swenson replaced her in the second half and made three saves as well.
Roseburg (2-0) plays at West Salem at 5:30 p.m. April 4.
