CURTIN: A Springfield man was injured Wednesday when he crashed the fuel truck he was driving more than 80 feet down an embankment off of Territorial Highway near Curtin.
Brandon Maryanski, 26, was driving the truck, which was hauling diesel and tools, south on the highway when he lost control near Milepost 4.5 around 10:40 a.m., according to the Douglas County Sheriffs Office.
Maryanski was taken by private vehicle to Cottage Grove Hospital, and was then taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene with unknown injuries. His condition was not available this morning.
The crash remains under investigation.
North Douglas County Fire & EMS responded to the scene. First Strike Environmental of Roseburg also responded to help recover the diesel.
Isaac Adevai, a project manager with First Strike, said crews pumped about 500 gallons of diesel out of the tank. An estimated 100 gallons may have leaked out, and crews are working to clean up the spill.
