ROSEBURG: A short video featuring two Douglas Education Service District employees has been selected for the final round of a statewide competition sponsored by the Oregon Education Association.
Mary Ellen Young and Amelie Delzer, speech language and therapy services employees, appear in the film, along with Caroline Haags, the mother of a student with whom the educators work.
The program documents Youngs use of puppets in her classroom to address speech problems.
District communications officer Peter Mantey produced the film.
The Working Wonders Video Contest invited Oregon schools and colleges to highlight people who make education work. Videos were to range from 30 seconds to three minutes.
The public may watch the videos on OEAs Web site and vote for their favorites from among the eight finalists. A grand prize of $6,000 will go to support the winners program.
