Campgrounds open for the year

UMPQUA FOREST: Campgrounds along the North Umpqua River and in lower elevations of the Umpqua National Forest are open for the year, while campgrounds in higher elevations, such as Diamond Lake Campground, remain closed due to remaining snowpack.

The Toketee, Island and Boulder Flat campgrounds are now open.

Opening May 16 are the Coolwater, White Creek, Wolf Creek, Canton Creek, Steamboat Falls, Eagle Rock, Apple Creek, Horseshoe Bend, and Bogus Creek campgrounds.

Lake in the Woods Campground could open May 16 if snow melts as anticipated.

Diamond Lake Campground will be plowed and partially opened by early May, depending on the snow melt. Its remaining campsites will open by Memorial Day, again depending on the snow melt.

The boating speed limit in Diamond Lake is 10 mph, as directed by the Oregon State Marine Board.

Lemolo Lake remains open to water-skiing this summer.

In the Tiller Ranger District, the Devil's Flat, Threehorn, Three C Rock, Dumont Creek, Ash Flat, South Umpqua Falls, and Cover campgrounds are open.

The Boulder Creek, Skillet Creek and Camp Comfort campgrounds will open by May 12 after hazard trees are cleared.

Trailheads to the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness are blocked by snow, trees or slides.

In the Cottage Grove Ranger District in Lane County, Cedar Creek Campground and the entire area of Lund Park will open May 15. The Rujada Campground opens at noon May 22.

All campground fees range between $6 to about $10 each day.

Hikers in the Umpqua forest will find snow remaining on trails above 3,000 feet.
