RELAY FOR LIFE — Walk for a cure starting at 3 p.m. today and ending at noon Saturday on the Umpqua Community College track, 1140 College Road, Winchester. American Cancer Society fundraiser. NORTH DOUGLAS COUNTY FAIR — Mingle with friends and family and head to the fair from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and 11 a.m. Saturday at the Drain Civic Center, 205 West A Ave., Drain. Traditional regional fair with art, craft, 4-H and food exhibits, vendors, live entertainment, pie eating contest, children’s games, food and Friends of the Library book sale. MYRTLE CREEK SUMMER FESTIVAL — Head south for another festival starting at 1 p.m. today at Millsite Park, 231 Volunteer Way, Myrtle Creek. Various activities throughout the day include bingo, music, food and games with No Limit, a rock and blues band, playing at 7:30 p.m. and the Craig Allen Blues Band playing at 10 p.m. The festival will start at noon Saturday with arm wrestling registration and weigh-in at the picnic shelter and a show-n-shine will take place at noon and music will start at 6 p.m. with the 234th U.S. Army Concert Band and The Walrus, a rock band, will play at 8:30 p.m. Non-denominational church service at 8 a.m. Sunday. 863-5233.
ARTISTS’ RECEPTION — Check out the newest exhibit on the block from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the Umpqua Valley Arts Center, 1624 W. OREGON MUSICAL THEATER FESTIVAL — See one of three plays tonight at 7:30 or 8 p.m., Umpqua Community College, 1140 College Road, Winchester. The festival features 23 performances of three different shows on three stages. The performances run Thursday through Monday with matinees at 2 p.m. each Sunday. The three shows include “The Fantasticks,” “Cinderella” and “The Last Five Years.” Artistic director Dean Remick; music director Jason Heald. Tickets are $15/$20 for reserved seating or $10 when purchased 30 minutes before performances. Saturday and Sunday’s performances are at 2, 7:30 and 8 p.m.

HIKE YELLOW JACKET LOOP — Start Saturday with a hike. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse parking lot, Fowler Street, Roseburg to carpool with the Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club. Join the club on a 5.6-mile hike that begins at Hemlock Lake, about an hour southeast of Roseburg up Little River Road. ART SHOW — See photos from around the world Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Elkton Community Education Center Gallery, 15850 W. Highway 38. Opening reception featuring Greg Grosz Photography. Grosz retired to Elkton after a career as a professional filmmaker. As he made films around the world, he spent most of his non-directing days shooting photographs. The show features his photos from across the globe as well as photos of local life. The display begins Saturday and will remain on exhibit until Aug. 31. A DAY FOR GRACE — Help a family out Sunday. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Performances by Sanctus Real, Fireflight, Issakar, Flipside and Roseburg band Face in the Crowd. Also a rock wall, Guitar Hero contest, pugil stick matches and a pull-up bar. Event benefits 7-year-old Kenzi Cullett, who has cerebral palsy, and her family, whose home was destroyed by a fire. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the gate.
