An adult film actress who resided in Scotts Valley for several years before moving to Eugene pleaded guilty Friday to tax evasion.
Janine Marie James, 39, known in the adult film industry as Janine Lindemulder, failed to pay more than $200,000 in federal taxes to the Internal Revenue Service, federal prosecutors said. James, who the government said earned $350,101 in 2004, failed to pay on a tax bill stemming from 1996 to 2002.
In her plea Friday in U.S. District Court in Eugene to intentionally failing to pay income taxes, James admitted that during the time she owed the back taxes, she bought a $648,000 home in Eugene, where she moved after selling her home on Scotts Valley Road east of Yoncalla.
The Scotts Valley property, which included a home with 2,300 square feet and 5 acres of land, sold for $610,000 in early 2006, according to records from the Douglas County Assessor's Office.
In October 2005, she used nearly $163,000 from her divorce settlement from her former husband, Jesse James, owner of the West Coast Choppers motorcycle fabricator shop and host of the Monster Garage television show on the Discovery Channel.
Janine James also admitted buying a new Jeep for $28,000 and paying $20,000 down on a new recreational vehicle between March 2004 and June 2004, at a time when she owed taxes.
She faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine when she’s sentenced Oct. 24 in Eugene.
James moved to Oregon after her husband left her in 2003. It was widely reported at the time that she was pregnant. Jesse James later married film actress Sandra Bullock.
Janine James appeared as a nurse putting on a pair of rubber gloves on the cover of band Blink 182’s 1999 album “Enema of the State.” She appeared in the same role in the music video for the song “What’s My Age Again?” off that album.
Court documents listed her current address as Huntington Beach, Calif.
