Firefighters today were investigating the cause of a blaze that destroyed a home on Grange Road in Green this morning.
Firefighters were called out at 7:38 a.m., with the first engine arriving four minutes later to the home at 4926 Grange Road, said Battalion Chief Roger Johnson with Douglas County Fire District No. 2.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames showing from most of the windows. The fire was under control within 30 minutes, Johnson said, but the home was a total loss due to fire and smoke damage.
Firefighters also had to work to keep the fire from spreading to nearby grass and brush.
Winston-Dillard Fire District assisted. A total of 14 firefighters were on scene with three engines.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Volunteers with the Oregon Pacific Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to assist the occupants.
