September 21, 1923-August 30, 2008
Age 84, passed away on Saturday morning August 30, 2008, at Guardian Angel Homes.
She was born in Renick, West Virginia on September 21, 1923, to Albert and Fenton Weakley. She was the youngest of eight children. Her brothers, Guy, John, Alfred and her twin brothers, Edward and Edgar and sisters, Dollie and Sylvia, preceded her in death as did her parents.
She moved from West Virginia to Riddle, Oregon, attending schools in both Renick and Riddle. Her stories of West Virginia and growing up in Riddle will always be remembered. Like the time she and MaeBell drank Mr Watziks wine or the stories of her and the twins playing in the trees and the rivers.
In 1944, she married Robert Bob Mitchell and together they had Clarence Mitch Mitchell and a baby, Robert Mitchell who died at five days old. Bob died in a logging accident in 1947. On October 6, 1951, she married Cecil Jack Fuller. Together they had Jim and Warren. The family lived in Riddle until 1957 when logging took them north to Ectopia, Washington, where they had a small farm. Mom spent countless hours irrigating the crop with the help of the boys. Logging then moved them on to Ukiah Oregon, for a year and a very cold winter never to be forgotten. From there the family went to Dayton, Washington, for two years before they landed in Clarkston in 1961.
Mom loved her gardens. Every spring she would plant a garden that she said was ìnever big enough. Her favorites, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans were so plentiful she would can enough to pass all around to the family. You could find her in the garden with a salt shaker eating fresh vegetables everyday during the summer.
As the boys got older she started going to the Eagles. She was very proud that she was a charter member in the Clarkston Ladies Auxiliary Some of the greatest times were her drill team days. They would travel all around and seemed to bring home awards from everywhere they went. If Mom wasn't at home she was at the Eagles either playing bingo, darts, playing pool or marching around the hall. In her later years she so enjoyed the rides up the river to look for deer and sheep.
The most important things in Moms life were her boys. Dad passed not long after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Those 50 years were the best for Mom.
Mom is survived by her three boys, Mitch (Jane) of Riddle; Jim (Cathy) and Warren of Clarkston. She has nine grandchildren, Chani (Tim) Woolf of Moscow; Chelby (Gary) Sarlund of Puyallup, Washington; Kaleb Mitchell of Molalla Oregon; Zach Mitchell of Weiser Idaho; Wendy Fuller (Ryan Rogers) of Lewiston; Todd, Mindie and Brandt Fuller of Clarkston. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Stroud of Moscow; Gage Sarlund of Puyallup and Jarett Hull and Siena Fuller of Clarkston. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Coby Mitchell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews that meant the world to her, as if they were her own.
Mom always wanted to be with her family in Riddle. Several trips every year were made back and forth between Clarkston and Riddle over the years so she could visit. And she knew one day she would be back with all of them. Now you are. Mom, rest peacefully with the family and tell them hi from all of us.
Funeral services will be held at Merchants Funeral Home in Clarkston Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. with dinner at the Clarkston Eagles immediately following. The burial will take place at the Riddle Cemetery on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon at the Parish Hall, 1st and D Streets in Riddle immediately following.
