Vera passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, after a long convalescence in her home at a local Nursing Rehab in Roseburg, Oregon, where she had wonderful care during her time of need. Vera was born July 15, 1919, in Buena Vista, Oregon. Her parents, Ernest and Myrtle (Prather) Bohna were also both native Oregonians and homesteaded a ranch in Blaine, Oregon along the Nestucca River. Myrtle rode a horse all the way over the rugged Coast Mountains to her parents home in Buena Vista to give birth to Vera. Vera married Ned Forrest Young, another native Oregonian, in Blaine on July 20, 1937. He was a CCC boy and stopped to visit the ranch meeting her in the barnyard wearing her old milking clothes. Embarrassed, she ran up to the house to change clothes and clean up. When Ned and her parents came in, Ned asked her where her sister went that he had just met. They fell in love and a year later they were married. Vera and Ned were long time residents of Coburg, Oregon where they raised their three sons. Vera was a loving mother and enjoyed attending sporting events especially if her sons were playing. She worked hard to help raise the family during lean years. Many years later she lived several years in Las Vegas, Nevada where she was frequently successful playing one-armed bandits. She has seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Donald Young of Eugene, Oregon. She is survived by two brothers, Cleve Bohna and his wife, Norma of Washington and James Bohna of Dallas, Oregon; her daughter-in-law, Donna Young of Eugene, Oregon, two sons, Virgil Young and his wife, Barbara of Oakland, Oregon, and Ernest Young and his wife, Beverly of Indiantown, Florida. At Veras request there will be no services. She will be well remembered for her loving devotion to her family and hard work throughout her long life.
