George Aime Durant

September 22, 1929- September 4, 2008

George Aime Durant Jr. was born on September 22, 1929, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He passed on to be with his Lord and to join his wife of 51 years on September 4, 2008. George grew up in Massachusetts and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served three years including a tour in Korea during the war. He married Dolores Souza on July 4, 1953, in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. George and Dolores moved to California in 1957 and George worked as a skilled finish carpenter for the next 40 years. Having retired they moved to Roseburg to live with their daughter and son-in-law in 2000. George was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dolores. George is survived by his sisters, Lily Phillips of New Bedford and Yvette Bedard of Pennsylvania; daughters, Michele Miller and her husband, William of Roseburg, Oregon; Christine Bostrom and her husband, Marty of Yucca Valley, California; Laurie Durant of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Jodi Heil and her husband, Greg of Prescott Valley; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. George was a lifelong devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Roseburg. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at 12 p.m. (noon) Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor's Family Chapel.
