Sutherlin/Oakland sophomore Spencer runs to win at invite, Roseburg runners compete at Stanford

FLORENCE — Chelsea Spencer won the Lake Woahink Invitational for the Sutherlin/Oakland cross country team. The sophomore ran the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, two seconds, nine seconds ahead of Churchill’s Sydnie Johnson.

No. 1-ranked Hidden Valley had four runners in the top 10, including individual winner Connor Kasler (16:29), to easily win the team title. South Umpqua’s D.J. Flores was fifth in 16:54.

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Roseburg placed 24th and 28th, respectively at the Stanford Invitational, one of the largest meets on the West Coast.

Bryanna Oelrich was the top Indian finisher, placing 43rd in the Division 2 race in 20:28. Brooke Holt of Granite Bay was the winner in 18:30 and Oak Ridge took the team title.

Drew Van Anrooy placed 114th in the boys race in 18:13 and Tim Harker was 127th in 18:23. Garrett Seawell of Woodcreek won in 15:30 and De La Salle was the top team.
