Violet Rose Hammond

Age 84, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Oregon, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008, with her loving family at her side. She was born on August 28, 1924, in Widen, West Virginia, the daughter of William W. and Stella J. (Campbell) Jones.* *She was united in marriage to Darius Hammond on March 21, 1970. Violet was a C.N.A. and a care provider. She loved singing, yodeling, gardening, and canning. Violet was a strong Christian woman that loved her church, and was excited to go be with her Lord. Violet was a wonderful example to her family. She was loved by all and was a people person. She is survived by her brother, Jack Pierson and his wife, Elaine of Lewisburg, West Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Ellison; grandchildren, Russ, Kim, Tony, Brad, William, Melissa, Renee, Raymond, Rusti, and Sherrie of Roseburg, Winston, Myrtle Creek, Indiana and Alaska. great-grandchildren include, Ashley, Tyler, Larissa, Jessie, Daren, Johnny, Jesse, Matt, Abby, Haylie, Micah, Nick, Shae-lynn, Serena, Nicole, Gary, Brandon, Derek, Chelsea, Emily, Daniella and more; along with numerous family members from West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darius Coy Hammond, April 21, 1990; sons, Roger, Carl, and Darrell Ellison; both parents; sisters, Exie, Betty, Mazil, and her brother, Bill. A certain granddaughter's life is all the better for having loved her. A private internment will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Family and friends may come and pay their final respects on Friday, October 10, 2008, between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Taylor's Family Chapel in Winston, Oregon.
