BASKETBALL: North Douglas Warriors survive UVC’s late charge; Riddle girls beat CCA, Oakland tops Jefferson, Glide edges Days Creek; North Medford JV defeats Douglas, UVC, CCA, Oakland, Days Creek win

DRAIN — The North Douglas High girls basketball team survived a late 3-point barrage from Umpqua Valley Christian in a 42-38 non-league win Thursday night.

The Warriors (4-1) limited their turnovers and got 14 points from Brittany Roady. Rochelle Hescock added 10 points and Kaitlynn Rice grabbed 11 rebounds.

Jorden Zerbach scored a game-high 15 points and hit two of the Monarchs’ six three-pointers. UVC (2-3) trailed by eight late in the fourth quarter before making a late run.

RIDDLE — Mel Gianotti scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Irish scored 35 points in the paint in a rout of Canyonville Christian.

Alex Rogers recorded 13 points and Jordan Nelson added 10 for Riddle (2-3).

Samantha Stalford led the Pilots with eight points.

OAKLAND — Brittany Baimbridge scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Chelsea Spencer recorded 10 points and eight assists in the Oakers’ win.

Amanda Humphreys added 11 points for Oakland, which used big first and fourth quarters to pull away from Class 3A Jefferson.

DAYS CREEK — Glide outscored the host Wolves 26-10 in the second half to storm to its first win of the season.

Jessica Strader scored 10 points to lead the Wildcats, who trailed 10-2 in the first quarter. Kayla Rushby and Kayla Schiermeister each scored seven points.

Rachel Walters paced Days Creek with 12 points and K’Dean Ramos added 10.

ROGUE RIVER — Kyle Waits scored 32 points, including 22 in the second half as the North Medford junior varsity team rallied from a 23-8 deficit against Douglas in the first round of the Rogue River Holiday Classic.

Bryson Norton scored 14 points, Jason Tingle had 12 and David Guthrie added 11 for the Trojans (1-4), who played Chiloquin at 2 p.m. today.

DRAIN — Kyle Monteith hit four 3-point field goals en route to a game-high 17 points and Umpqua Valley Christian rolled. Austin Stone had 14 points, Michael Graham had 11 and Ryan Graf added 10 for the Monarchs.

Cameron Derrick led the Warriors (1-4) with 10 points.

RIDDLE — Stanley Hsu poured in a game-high 19 points and the Pilots (4-0) used a 19-7 run in the third quarter to down the Irish.

Paul Hong recorded 13 points for CCA. Josh Napper scored 10 points, Colton Hanson registered 10 points and nine rebounds and Franco Moreno added eight points and seven rebounds for the Irish (1-4).

OAKLAND — Tyler Fugate scored 18 points and Coleton Baker recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds as Oakland outlasted Class 3A Jefferson.

Nathan Adams had seven steals, Jason Derby had eight rebounds and Josh Reber had five steals and four assists.

DAYS CREEK — The Class 1A Wolves scored 34 points in the paint and held a 39-30 rebounding advantage in a narrow win over 3A Glide.

Tyler Hays scored 17 points and Kasey Dunn added 13 for Days Creek (5-0). Will Hissong led Glide with 12.
