’Cats top Devils to end skid



GLIDE — Elliot Standish scored a career-high 28 points and Glide shot 52 percent (22 for 42) from the floor to win its first game in Sunset League play, a 59-50 triumph over Coquille.

Levi Bonnell scored 14 points for the Wildcats (2-9, 1-2 Sunset) and Patrick Ridgley added 11. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Wildcats.

“Elliot had a career night,” Glide coach Jeff Smith said. “He’s a leader for this young team. We’ve expected a lot out of him and he’s delivered.”

Brandon Sampson scored 12 points to lead Coquille, which cut Glide’s lead to three in the third quarter but got no closer.

The Wildcats continue league play Friday at Gold Beach.

MYRTLE POINT — David King and Jeff Wilmarth each scored nine points for the Braves, but a 14-point performance from Garren Hitner and Willy Looney propelled the Bobcats (8-6, 2-1) to a Sunset League victory.

Ryan Hamilton had 12 points and was one of three Myrtle Point players to reach double figures in scoring. Ismael Osorio had eight points for the Braves (6-8, 1-3).

Reedsport continues Sunset League play on Friday when it hosts Cascade Christian.

OAKLAND — The top-ranked Oakers remained unbeaten, handing the Irish a 58-point loss in a Mountain View Conference game.

Trevvor Simmons scored both a game-high 17 points with nine rebounds, Joey Lee had 16 points, and Dakota Mathis six rebounds and four steals for Oakland

Brock Goldbeck led Riddle with eight points.

The Oakers (13-0, 3-0 MVC) play at No. 5-ranked North Douglas on Friday while Riddle plays at Oakridge.

OAKRIDGE — Dustin Andes scored a game-high 26 points and Kyle Anderson added 19 on 9-of-9 field goal shooting, leading North Douglas to a convincing conference victory over Oakridge.

Andes hit 10-of-26 shots from the field as the visiting Warriors took a 32-10 first-quarter lead. North Douglas’ starters only played in the first and third quarters.

Caleb Castleman scored 17 points with 10 rebounds to lead Oakridge.

GLENDALE — Heath Anson converted a tiebreaking 3-point play with under 30 seconds left for Yoncalla and Glendale’s 3-point attempt on the other end rimmed out as the Eagles escaped with a win.

Anson finished with 19 points and 24 rebounds for the Eagles (10-3, 3-0 MVC), including a putback and subsequent foul shot.

Glendale nearly pulled off the upset with seven 3-point field goals. Dylan Boucher hit four from behind the arc en route to 18 points. J.C. Borreson added 14 points for the Pirates.

Yoncalla is at Central Linn Friday. Glendale heads to Monroe, also on Friday.

GRANTS PASS — Noah and Eli Cunningham combined to score 38 points for the Warriors, whose clutch free-throw shooting helped them pull away from the Wolves.

Noah Cunningham scored 26 points and Eli Cunningham 12 for New Hope, which hit 9-of-11 shots from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter. Tyler Hays had 15 points and Bryar Zimmerman and Travis Fuller each added six for the Wolves (9-6, 1-2 Skyline).

WINSTON — The Monarchs notched a Skyline League win over the Hornets with a strong defensive effort in the second half.

Kyle Monteith had 14 points for the Monarchs, while Levi Chappell and Ryan Graf both added nine. Chase Elliott scored eight for Camas Valley.

UVC (8-6, 2-1 league) plays at Pacific Saturday.

OAKRIDGE — A 16-point performance from Zoe Skordahl, along with a 10-point, 10-rebound outing from Sam Boyd, paced Oakridge past North Douglas.

Stephanie Hescock scored 11 points and Elyssa Emel chipped in 10 for North Douglas (9-4, 1-2 MVC). Oakridge (3-0 MVC) rallied from an early five-point deficit to take the lead for good.

The Warriors of North Douglas continue conference play on Friday when they host Oakland.

Sophomore post Christina Carter had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Danielle Townsend added 14 boards for the Hornets (6-6, 2-1 Skyline). Amber Wafer added seven points. Jorden Zerbach scored 11 for the Monarchs, and Ashley Pittam had 10 points and six rebounds.
