WINCHESTER An undermanned Umpqua Community College mens team lost 69-61 to Shasta College at its Northern California/Southern Oregon Tournament Saturday.
UCC (4-9) played without five players four to academics and one to injury.
We are finding a new identity right now, UCC head coach Donell Morgan said. Different players are being inserted into different roles.
Those California schools showed us some different looks and challenged us. Somewhere we hit a wall. With 14 games to go, we have to get this thing a little tighter.

WINCHESTER Anthony Atherton turned the ball over seven times but scored a game-high 23 points, Roseburg High graduate Kellen Spicer added 20 and UCC pulled out a victory over College of the Siskiyous at its Northern California/Southern Oregon Tournament.
Hasani Belt recorded 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocks and Atherton and Spicer both grabbed six rebounds for the Riverhawks.
Hasani is emerging as a legitimate scorer, UCC head coach Donell Morgan said.
UCC only attempted seven threes and made one. While the Riverhawks shot 50 percent from the field, the Eagles were held to 41 percent and managed to sink just six of their 28 attempts from behind the arc. Alden Gibbs and Dijon Edwards paced Siskiyous with 20 each.
