ROCHESTER, Minn. The Roseburg High wrestling team won its division after going 3-0 Saturday to finish 13th at The Clash National Wrestling Duals Tournament at the University Center Rochester Field House.
The Indians went 1-2 on Friday.
Roseburg beat Glenbard North, Ill., ranked seventh in 2A competition, 37-23; Perham (Minn.), ranked second in 2A competition, 48-16; and Don Bosco, Iowa, ranked first in 1A competition, 42-24, in the fourth bracket. Don Bosco, whose fans filled two full sections at UCR Regional Sports Center, was the No. 1 seed in its eight-man bracket.
Roseburgs Steven Evans (119) was unbeaten over the weekend, going 6-0 en route to being honored with an award. Chayse Jackson and Seth Thomas, both 4.0 students, were recognized for their academic and athletic excellence.
Thomas (140), Dylan Fors (152) and Devan Fors (160) all went 3-0 on Saturday, while Cody Stoecker (103), Dan Faas (112), Tyler Lander (125), Jay Tovey (130), Dylan Westwang (145) and Brandon Galvez (285) all won two of three.
Apple Valley, Minn., took first, Simley, Minn., second, Ballard Huxley, Iowa, third and Christiansburg, Va., fourth in the championship bracket of the prestigious invite.
The Indians were among at least 17 of the nations top 40 teams, including six top-10 squads. The two schools Roseburg lost to Montini Catholic, Ill., and Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. won the second and third brackets respectively.
We are very proud of these guys, Roseburg coach Steve Lander said. The competition in these six matches was literally incredible.
The Indians left for Roseburg today. They host South Medford at 7 p.m. Thursday.

FRIDAYS MEET
The Indians dominated Blue Springs, Mo., before running into two tough schools in Montini Catholic, Ill., and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. Steven Evans (119) and Sam Mecham (135) won all three of their respective matches Friday. Dan Faas (112), Dylan Westwang (145), Dylan Fors (152) and Brandon Galvez (285) won two of their three bouts. Westwang was up 3-0 in his final match before Jared Jaborek rallied to win, 4-3.

Braves capture tournament title
REEDSPORT Anthony Halstead, John Drozek and Cesar Lira all won finals matches as Reedsport edged Cottage Grove for its own tournamen title Saturday.The Braves finished with 267.5 points while the 4A Lions were less than two points backs in the team standings. North Douglas was fourth and Glide seventh.
Glides Cole Walker took the 160-pound title with a pin over Cottage Groves Ricky Hibbert in 3:30. North Douglas Jake Rice pinned Bandons Carlos Villa in the 189-pound final in 2:49.
Local wrestlers taking runners-up honors were Trent Tinnes of North Douglas, Corey Melton, Jon Maurer and Gabe Forrester of Glide and John Covey, Bobby Short and Tim Spangle of Reedsport.
