Age 93, of Sutherlin, Oregon, went to sleep in the Lord on January 16, 2009, under the loving touch of Susie and Lisa Purcival at Chantele's Care Home.
He was born on July 30, 1915, in Laverne, Oklahoma, to Frank and Lula (Burdick) Wells the oldest of seven children. Albert worked logging, owning his own gypo sawmill, later at his brother, Roy Wells dairy, then as a mechanic at Case Tractor. After he retired he enjoyed his hobby of being Mr. fix it working on small engines. Al loved helping others. He was a long time member of the Roseburg Seventh-Day-Adventist Church. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Wells; sister, Bertha Wright; grandsons, Johnny Lee Wells, and Randy Wells and great-grandson, Benjamin Osberg. He is survived by his wife, Leatha; his sons, Vernon and wife, Margret, of Cresswell, Oregon; Everett and Ada of Oakland; Denny and wife Nona of Sutherlin; Richard of Roseburg; daughter, Barbara Couch of Coquille, Oregon; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma King of Gaston, Oregon; Betty Johnson of Lewiston, Idaho; brothers, Chester and wife, Virginia of Days Creek, Oregon, and Fred and wife, Rose of Almsville. His celebration of life will be held at the Sutherlin Seventh-Day-Adventist Church on Sunday, February 1, 2009. at 1 p.m.
