Went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 10:30 p.m. at the Roseburg VA Hospice Center with family by his side. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on December 13, 1925. He migrated to Arizona and then to Oregon. He was a First Class Corpman, U.S. Navy, WWII as a Neuropyschiatry Technician. Continuing his education at Wesleyan University with a B.A. Pre-medical/Biology/Chemistry Major in 1947. Received his M.S.in 1963 from University of Bridgeport and Graduate Studies at Doctoral Level at Columbia University, Arizona State University receiving Ed.D. in Administration and Supervision in 1973. His career journey began as a Corporation Officer alongside his father at the S.G. Amendola Ame Cosmetics Company, Inc. in New Haven, Connecticut from 1947-1960. Supervisor of Sciences, Science Teacher in New Haven Public Schools, and Public Relations Officer 1960-1968. Science Teacher, Assistant Department Head for Glendale Union High School District, Glendale, Arizona. 1968-1971. Educational Administration/Principal at the Arizona Girls School 1971-1972. Consultant for Arizona Career Project/Department of Education 1972-1973. Curriculum Coordinator for Glendale Elementary School District/Glendale, 1973-1981. Superintendent/Principal at Camas Valley School District 1982-1984. Counseling Therapist/Roseburg, Oregon 1981-2004. Anthony was an author of many publications along with being an accomplished composer and musician/pianist. In his love for science and animals he spent 17 years studying monkeys, their habitat, and contributed to research in discovering a cure for Parasitic Pneumonia in Simians. His professional interests and ministries included President of the Full Gospel Business Mens Association, Music Ministry of Healing in Arizona/Oregon. Glendale Chamber of Commerce, Phi Delta Kappa Education Honor Fraternity, National Education Association, National Association of Biological Sciences, National Association of Science Teachers, Arizona Education Association, Arizona School Administrators Association, Arizona Association of Mexican-American Educators Scholarship Club, Arizona Cultural Committee, Confederation of Oregon School Administration, American Association of School Administrators, American Association of Christian Counselors along with being President and receiving many national recognitions of many of the above associations. His love for languages led him to take four years of Latin, three years of German, two years of French, one year of Greek, along with studies in Spanish and speaking Italian fluently. He is survived by his wife, Silvana L. Amendola; daughter, Alicia A. Amendola; Spiritual daughter, Martha B. Weber and her husband, Rick A. Weber; grandchildren, Adrian A. Weber; Lathena J. Weber; grandson, Mark Bodfield and wife, Christy Bodfield. grandchildren, Nicole Bodfield; Monica Bodfield; Kellie Peterson; Thom Peterson; Aileen and Kaila Peterson. Anthonys Creed and Educational Philosophy was that Each individual, without exception, is endowed with natural gifts and needs only the opportunity to exercise these talents through educational programs geared to the needs of the individual at the appropriate time and level of development and competencies. That is, excellence at all levels. In his memory he would desire that each of us carry on this philosophy in caring for one another and his love for future generations of young people and families alike. Those who wish to pay their respects may join the family on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Chapel of the Roses on Harvard Avenue. A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at 12:10 p.m. at Saint Josephs Catholic Church in Roseburg, Oregon.
