Teenager arrested in burglary case

Police arrested an 18-year-old Riddle resident Friday in connection with an April burglary and theft at John’s Auto Refinishing.

The business at 345 W. Sixth Ave. in Riddle was burglarized April 10. More than $2,500 worth of tools, car stereos and other supplies were stolen, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Through the investigation, deputies identified Dakota Thomas Miars as a suspect. Deputies and state troopers served a search warrant at the teen’s house Friday. Several of the stolen items were recovered, and police seized two marijuana plants.

Miars was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief and unlawful manufacturing of marijuana.

The investigation is continuing.
