Society recognizes six foresters



Six people were recognized for their achievements at the Oregon Society of American Foresters (OSAF) annual convention April 29 to May 1 at Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino Resort in Canyonville.

More than 150 members of OSAF attended the convention. The theme was “Positioning Pacific Northwest Forestry for Global Success.”

Marc Vomocil of Starker Forests was recognized as the 2008 OSAF Chair; Casey Davis, an Oregon State University student, received the SAF OSU Student Member of the Year Award; Jake Gibbs of Lone Rock Timber received the Forester of the Year Award; Dick Sherman, a McMinnville area educator who is with the Associated Oregon Forestry Clubs (high school) received the Forestry Appreciation Award; Eric Geyer of Roseburg Resources was recognized as 2009 Annual Conference chair; David Wells, Tillamook/Clatsop chapter representative, received the Chapter of the Year Award; and Ed Shephard of the Bureau of Land Management received the Tough Tree Award.
