Police and Fire Logs: May 29, 2009



These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all the incidents or their final outcomes.

POLICE LOG

Thursday

Douglas County sheriff

11:30 a.m. — Theft of rental equipment from residence on the 200 block of Glenvilla Lane in Glendale.

4:54 p.m. — A back window of a residence was possibly shot out at Melrose Road and Old Melrose Road in Melrose.

9:56 p.m. — Trespass, criminal mischief and harassment on the 200 block of North Main Street in Riddle.

11:48 p.m. — Someone wrote something in lighter fluid on a yard, then lit it on fire on the 3700 block of Carnes Road in Green.

Roseburg Police

12:29 a.m. — A man’s college tuition money was stolen during an assault and robbery on the 2700 block of Edenbower Boulevard.

10:40 a.m. — Theft of license plate from vehicle on the 2500 block of Harvard Avenue.

8:50 p.m. — Some juveniles shot someone in the leg with a paint ball on the 700 block of Garden Valley Boulevard.

9:50 p.m. — Assault on the 1000 block of Post Street.

10:15 p.m. — Domestic disturbance on the 1500 block of Grove Street.

Winston Police

9:53 p.m. — Domestic disturbance on the 100 block of Cary Street.

ACCIDENTS

Thursday

Douglas County sheriff

11:45 a.m. — A pickup backed into a motorcycle on the 300 block of North Main Street in Riddle. No injuries.

2:23 p.m. — A car went through a fence and into a ditch at Broad Street and Edenbower Boulevard in Roseburg. Unknown injuries. Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and Medcom Ambulance also responded.

Roseburg Police

12:46 p.m. — Two-vehicle, noninjury accident on the 2500 block of Stewart Parkway.

1:24 p.m. — Hit-and-run on the 2300 block of Stewart Parkway. No injuries.

3:44 p.m. — Two-vehicle, noninjury accident at Alameda Avenue and Northeast Stephens Street.

9:04 p.m. — Two-vehicle, noninjury accident at Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard and Northeast Stephens Street.

ARRESTS

The News-Review publishes the names of individuals who have been arrested on suspicion of at least one felony charge or three misdemeanors or a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges.

Thursday

Douglas County sheriff

Edward Joseph Gix, 45, of Roseburg, on suspicion of harassment, unlawful manufacture of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Winston Police

Todd Allen Smith, 39, of Winston, on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, second-degree criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person.

FIRE RUNS

Thursday

Roseburg Fire

8:47 a.m. — Gas leak inside building, causing evacuation on the 2400 block of Stewart Parkway.
