North Douglas football team drains South Eugene JV

PREP FOOTBALL

DRAIN — Mason Colburn rushed for 166 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns, helping North Douglas to a 33-12 win over the South Eugene junior varsity Thursday night in their high school football season opener.

Colburn, a junior tailback, had scoring runs of 84 and 36 yards and returned an interception 25 yards for a score. Senior quarterback Jordan Hicks threw a 5-yard TD pass to Dustin Bates and added a 1-yard scoring run. Tanner Toy caught a pair of passes for 26 yards.

Colburn led the defense with 16 tackles, Tyson Tinnes had 13 and Justin Langdon 10. Richard Ramsey led the Axemen with 93 yards rushing on 14 attempts, including a 65-yard TD jaunt in the first quarter, and passed for 95 yards and one TD.

The Warriors travel to Crow next Friday for a non-league game.
